Volunteer
Welcome Visitors from All Over the World
Volunteers are essential to the work of the Körner’s Folly Foundation, and with their help, we are able to provide personal visitor experiences that connect people to history and to each other. Consider joining our volunteer family at Körner’s Folly – no experience is needed. We provide training and advance notice of the tour schedule. Become a volunteer and join us in welcoming visitors from all over the world to experience the magic that is Jule Körner’s Folly. To find out more, just call the office, and we’ll be happy to take the time to get to know you.
Whether you are interested in leading guided tours, helping out at special events, or becoming a puppeteer, our volunteer program has something for everyone!
What are the benefits of volunteering?
- Learn more about the history of the Körner family and Kernersville and share this knowledge with others
- Meet people from all walks of life and make new friends
- Help the Körner’s Folly Foundation work towards our mission of preserving and restoring the house for the education and enjoyment of the public

Tour Guide
Do you enjoy storytelling and engaging with children, seniors, and everyone in between? You might become our next Tour Guide! Tour Guides lead at least four, 45 minute to 1 hour guided tours per year for scheduled groups on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Training is offered year round; does require the ability to climb multiple flights of stairs.
Greeter
Are you outgoing and friendly? You would make a wonderful Greeter! Greeters are the welcoming faces that meet visitors in the foyer of Körner’s Folly, take tickets, and give a short tour introduction. They serve a three hour shift at least twice a month during public tour hours. Greeters especially enjoy the holiday season, when the house is fully decorated for a Victorian Christmas! Training is offered year round.
Special Events
Do you have a flexible schedule on weekends and in evenings? We could use your help at Körner’s Folly events! Special events volunteers help with anything from event setup to taking tickets, parking assistance, and welcoming visitors to various events throughout the year, including Vintage Market, Oktoberfest, Christmas by Candlelight, and more! Training is offered year round.
Puppeteering
Are you a creative person that enjoys sharing your skills with others? We’d love to have you join the cast of the Körner’s Folly Family Revue! Puppeteers perform shows to a pre-recorded soundtrack (no lines to memorize!) on the fourth Saturday of the month, February-October, and for school groups throughout the year. Must be at least 8 years old. Training is offered in January and as needed throughout the year for a wide range of ages – great for a family activity!
Christmas Decorating
Do your friends and family always compliment your holiday decor? Do you like to transform a space into a winter wonderland? We would love to have you on the team! Each year in early November, individual volunteers and community organizations decorate all 22 rooms of Körner’s Folly for a Victorian Christmas. The holiday season welcomes thousands of visitors from all over to marvel at the ingenuity and vision of our decorators, and it’s a great way to showcase your talents while helping us create unforgettable experiences for our guests.
