Event Details

In honor of Black History Month, join us for a special presentation by Triad Cultural Arts for our February Taste of History program. This presentation will explore their Shotgun House Project and the ongoing restoration of a historically Black neighborhood, Happy Hills, in Winston-Salem. This program highlights the cultural, architectural, and social significance of the shotgun house, a housing form deeply rooted in African American history and community life.

Through storytelling, images, and preservation insights, Triad Cultural Arts will share how their work honors the legacy of the neighborhood’s residents while revitalizing these historic structures for future generations. This presentation offers a meaningful look at the intersection of history, place, and cultural preservation, and celebrates the resilience and contributions of Black communities in the Triad region. To learn more about this important work, visit the Triad Cultural Arts Shotgun House Project website at https://www.shotgunhousews.org and discover how you can be part of preserving and restoring this historic neighborhood.

This program is free to attend and includes light refreshments for attendees. Advance registration is not required.
