Körner's Folly Event Rental Policies and Rates
Event Spaces
Körner’s Folly has several unique spaces to accommodate private meetings, wedding ceremonies, and performing arts productions. Use of specific rooms and their capacities must be agreed upon in advance of rental. For more information about each rental space, please visit our Event Rentals page.
Event Rates
The base rate is determined by the day of the week and number of rental hours outlined below. There is an hourly charge for special event staff ($15/hour per staff member). The hourly fee is prorated in 15-minute increments, billed after the event so the exact time is calculated. Special event staff will be there to ensure the safety of the house and its objects, furniture, and artifacts at all times, and also help move your guests throughout the house as needed and assist with set up and break down of chairs and tables. The type of event and length of time will determine the exact number of special event staff needed.
In addition to special event staff fee, some events may require an off-duty fireman to perform a fire watch, where applicable per Kernersville Fire Department’s guidelines. This rate is $25/hour, minimum 2 hours, and will be added to total event cost if deemed applicable by Kernersville Fire Department.
A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total rental fee will reserve the date of the rental. The remaining 50% is due 30 days prior to the date of the rental.
All rental times are inclusive of set up and clean up. At the conclusion of the rental, you must ensure the property is returned “as it was found.” This includes but is not limited to:
(1.) Spot clean any areas of all trash, clean floors of debris, clean any large mess in other areas that are used.
(2.) A fee of $250.00 will be charged for half day events, and $400.00 for full day events. This is for a full, detail cleaning of event space and public facilities used by guests. This fee can be waived by the discretion of the Körner’s Folly Staff due to event specifics, such as light use of the rooms or low guest count, to be determined prior to finalizing the rental agreement.

Visitor Center Community Room Rental Rates
The Community Room inside the John & Bobbie Wolfe Visitors Center is a state-of-the-art gathering place with access to an outdoor patio as well as all interior amenities of the Visitors Center. This room is a versatile space for presentations, showers, receptions, and educational programming for use by businesses, local non-profits, and individuals.
The Community Room is 1, 230 sq. ft. in size. Room capacity is 72 seated with rectangle or round tables, and 125 standing.

Onsite staff will be available to assist in set up and break down of Körner’s Folly-owned materials prior to and after event.
Photo Shoots
Körner’s Folly is available for photo shoots when the house is not open for public tours. Available times are Mondays from 9am-5pm, Tuesdays-Saturdays 4pm-6pm, and Sundays 10am-12pm or 4pm-6pm. The base rate for photo shoots is $100/hour, minimum of 2 hours.
Event rentals which require photo shoots can be arranged during any 2-hour period prior to the event day. Scheduling for a photo shoot is subject to events and programming. All arrangements must be made ahead of time with Körner’s Folly staff.
Catering & Vendors
As a historic house, Körner’s Folly has several unique challenges – narrow stairs and doorways make it more difficult to move equipment between floors. Please note that Körner’s Folly does not currently have a catering kitchen. For this reason, all food and beverages must remain within the Visitor Center, which is equipped with a small kitchenette for basic use.
Catering – Catering to be done by licensed and professional organizations if hosting large event (<45 people to maximum capacity). If catering company is licensed and insured, they can use heating methods, such as Sterno, ONLY inside the Visitors Center, to keep food warm for events. If food preparation is catered by an individual or small unlicensed institution, food can be served from the service, but no heating elements during the event will be permitted. Alcohol is allowed with proper permits and licensing.
- No open flame in historic house museum (includes Sterno for catering). Only approved and licensed/insured catering companies to use Sterno in Community Room.
- If alcohol is served, the renter must secure their own ABC permit and liability insurance, either independently as an organization or through a caterer. Proof of permit and insurance must be submitted before the event. If a bartender is hired for event, they must have proper professional licensing.
- Live plants and florals are allowed at the discretion of Folly staff and require completely water tight containers. Prior approval required.
Reservation and Cancellation Policy
A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total rental fee is due to confirm the date of the rental. The remaining 50% is due 30 days prior to the date of the rental.
The rental deposit and fee is non-refundable. If the event must be cancelled, every effort will be made to reschedule the event, up to 1 year from the deposit date.
Additional Rules & Regulations
- Smoking – Körner’s Folly is a NO SMOKING facility.
- Furniture – Furniture and accessories may not be moved or relocated without the permission and assistance of the Körner’s Folly Operations & Programs Manager. This request must be made in writing and listed under the rental agreement terms. The hanging, taping, or attaching of any item to the walls, woodwork, or furniture is prohibited.
- Preservation – At all times personnel and participants will restrain from sitting, laying, moving, placing food or drink utensils, or otherwise misusing or abusing, furnishings and/or accessories displayed in Körner’s Folly. All food and beverages are limited to the Reception Room.
- Candles – Use of candles or other sources of open flame is strictly prohibited inside historic Körner’s Folly and the Visitors Center. Use of Sterno or other heating application is only to be used in Community Room and by licensed catering companies only.
- Tables/Chairs – Use of the folding chairs and tables provided by Körner’s Folly is permitted. They are to be returned to their proper storage location at the end of each use.
- Clean Up – At the conclusion of the rental, the renter is responsible for cleanup and returning the property to its original condition. This can include but is not limited to: clean the building, sweep all floors, take out the trash, clean the kitchen and any other areas that are used. For any cleaning that must be done after the use of the building, a fee of $300.00 will be charged.
- HVAC – Renters are strictly prohibited from turning off or adjusting the HVAC units in Körner’s Folly.
- Event Coordination/Planning – Please be aware that Körner’s Folly staff will not be responsible for any planning or coordination beyond the logistics associated with providing the venue and use of amenities included in price for the event day. All other logistical planning must be performed by client or event coordinating service.
- Vendors – Access to approved vendor list. Clients are welcome to use any service for their event needs, but all vendors on list have been vetted by the Folly staff. Folly staff are not responsible for any scheduling or arranging of vendors with clients. Required proof of insurance from professional organizations prior to event day.
- Staffing – Subject to size of event and necessity for staffing. (Determined at time of scheduling event.) Special event staff rate per hour.
